Scorpions are carnivorous arthropods that live in dry and stony areas.

The size ranges from 3 to 19cm and they have 4 pairs of legs. They do not live in groups but individually until they die. They are removed from their crypt only at the time they multiply. The female lays 25-30 eggs. The scorpion has a stinger on the abdomen.

Scorpions are nocturnal and feed on other small arthropods and other insects.

The kind of scorpion that lives in Europe is not lethal but it causes complications for people belonging to vulnerable groups.
